故事開始於一支在蘇門答臘島活動的探險隊，他們發現了當地一種長相怪異的鼠猴，便帶回去賣給動物園，不料卻因此釀出一個惡果。
萊尼（蒂莫西 巴姆Timothy Balme 飾）有著對他十分依賴的母親，這天母親被困在籠裏的鼠猴咬了一口。不久後，她開始變得詭異萬分，萊尼甚至看見她吃蜘蛛、咬狗，行為癲狂。萊尼請來醫生護士，卻被母親撕咬後繼而變成僵屍。明知母親成為高度危險的人物，萊尼卻不舍得傷害她，隻把她和僵屍困在房間裏。不料星星之火可以燎原，在萊尼家的一場舞會中，一大群人遭殃，他們變成亂七八糟的僵屍怪物橫衝直撞，萊尼揮出電鋸，殺得氣喘呼呼，血肉四濺，情急下，萊尼心愛的卻已變了質的母親，也不能幸免。
