受去世的父親影響，跟隨祖母長大的吉爾莫?開心（亞當?桑德勒 Adam Sandler 飾）把冰球做為自己畢生的誌向，然而在各種臨時工作之餘不忘訓練的開心始終不被任何冰球隊接納。落選的開心脾氣愈發暴躁，又遭遇祖母的房子因為拖欠稅款被稅局收繳，如果不能在90天內湊齊27萬美元，祖父親自建造的房子將被拍賣。一籌莫展的開心偶然發現了自己的高爾夫球天賦，加之六十年代的高爾夫球希望之星查伯願意免費培訓開心，對高爾夫球一無所知的開心迅速殺入了高爾夫球界，他狂躁的球風加上一杆進洞的超遠球能力吸引了大眾的注意，從公開賽到巡回賽一路戰績頗佳，與開心同場競技的知名高爾夫球手席特無法忍受外星人一般的開心，誓要阻撓開心的高爾夫之路……
